When I'm not mixing something.......

Summer 2009 - Winter Harbour to the Brooks Penninsula

The Brooks peninsula, unglaciated in the last ice-age, is a wilderness refuge. We accessed the Brooks from Winter Harbour (population 20), about 40 km north of the penninsula for a short 6 day trip (July 8 to 14, 2009). Pictures, from left to right: Looking over Brooks Bay and back towards Quatsino Sound; Fishermen arriving at Winter Harbour; Quatsino Sound with Kuakuitl Point in the distance; lucious ground cover on the beach; Camp 1 on the Brooks Peninsula; Amos Creek; Camp at Nordstrom Creek; Solander island off the Brooks on a calm day; Calm waters; Looking inland on the Brooks; Klaskish Inlet; Spare boat deck; Many jelly fish; Brooks sunset from Camp1.

Summer 2008 - Bella Bella to Port Hardy

While the pictures suggest otherwise, we had extensive fog for most of the eight-day trip (August 2nd through 10th). The fog sometimes lifted by 5pm, sometimes not. So, lots of time in the boats, and navigation by GPS. From the top left: Goose Island Panorama; Goose Island sunset; pocket beach in the Serpent Group in Kildidt Sound; fog from West Beach near Hakai Pass (north Calvert Island); West Beach from above (it's on the right of the peninsula, in the fog); water-front camp in the Sorrow Islands close to Cape Calvert; fog from the Sorrow Islands (it didn't clear this day); pocket beach just north of Westcott Point; calm crossing to Port Hardy with weather changing; Islets in the calm; Vista NW to Pine Island from Queen Charlotte Strait and to the fog on the horizon beyond.

Summer 2007 - Around the Top of Vancouver Island

From top left: Google map of Northern Vancouver Island (We travelled from Port Hardy to Tofino - about 450 km); Hanson Lagoon, just south of Cape Scott; To our staging point north of the Brooks Peninsula; Grant's Bay camp; Grassie Island; Grassie Island again; Nootka Sound light station; On the way to Hot Springs Cove.

Summer 2006 - From Tofino to around Estavan Point

From top: Clayoquot Sound from Vargas Island; Lagoon on Flores; Hesquiat incoming tide; Undergrowth behind the beach; Around Estavan Point, looking NW; Spot the bear - hiking to Estavan Point; Sea Caves.
